CEO Abner Mason talks TCPA, texting with Healthcare Finance
September 16, 2021
"As soon as the Supreme Court ruled, the problem should have changed overnight, but it didn't," Mason said. A big reason is that, as one plan in California put it, "'We're not regulated by the Supreme Court but we're regulated by Medicaid in California.'" "It really affects us, because ConsejoSano is a health equity company," Mason said. "We do a lot of work with multicultural people; most of our work is in Medicaid. For us and our work … the only way to communicate with patients is texting. (The health plans) hire us to create the content that is culturally appropriate. We're prevented from using that tool half the time or more. We don't reach the most vulnerable people."

“The plans that are doing the right thing are the plans that are moving away from their old approach to how they engage with their members and build a relationship with their members. That old approach, I would describe it as the ‘one size fits all’ approach,” begins Abner Mason, Founder and CEO of ConsejoSano. Read the rest in "AIS Health."

"They’ve got almost 10 million people in that state [who] are uninsured. So now you have 10 million people whose access is really going to only be limited to either community health centers that provide charity care or going to hospitals,” explains Gary Rosenfield, SVP at ConsejoSano, in response to a federal judge overruling the Biden administration's cancellation of Texas' new Medicaid waiver. SVP Gary Rosenfield Comments on Tennessee Medicaid Waiver Cancellation
August 19, 2021
“Block grants, even Tennessee’s modified aggregate cap plan, will drive a greater divide in health equity — socio-economically and racially. Block grants may promote efficiencies in some areas, but in reality the upshot is that it will narrow already sparse networks even further, creating less access to care, minimal benefits, and ultimately worse outcomes,” says Gary Rosenfield, Senior Vice President at ConsejoSano.

CEO Abner Mason Speaks About Social Determinants at HIMSS 2021
August 10, 2021
“It’s a shame that it took a pandemic to provide low-income people with innovations in healthcare that high-income people had for 10 or 15 years and didn’t even want to use. We know people will use it, but if policy doesn’t reimburse for it [and] we go back to the old way, that would be a shame,” expresses Abner Mason, Founder and CEO of ConsejoSano. August 09, 2021
“We can’t solve a problem that we can’t see. Healthcare organizations could leverage race, ethnicity, and language data to understand where and in what language to reach patients, who’s at risk, and how to step in. But none of that is possible if we fail to gather the data,” points out Abner Mason, Founder and CEO of ConsejoSano. “Here is the thing that is happening now:  Policymakers are saying we think that telehealth, meaning using a phone, shouldn’t be reimbursed the same as video visits. What happens in healthcare is whatever you reimburse higher is what everyone is going to do," explains Abner Mason, Founder and CEO of ConsejoSano.
